We're proud to share that Certis Australia has been named Outstanding Guarding Company at the recent Australian Security Industry Awards! Organised by the Australian Security Industry Association Limited (ASIAL), it was the security industry’s night of nights, celebrating winners and nominees across three award categories: the Australian Security Industry Awards for Excellence, the Outstanding Security Performance Awards and the Australian Security Medals Foundation Awards.
Four of our Security Officers also received individual accolades as winners of the St John Save a Life Award, part of the Australian Security Medals Foundation Awards, in recognition of their incredible efforts toward protecting and preserving the lives of others.
Security Officers Aaron Monaghan and Darren Ratcliffe were honoured for successfully saving a young person suffering a mental health episode in northern New South Wales, while Queensland-based Security Officer Adel Dzambic was commended for providing critical first aid for a member of the public who had stopped breathing.
Security Manager Jason Muir was recognised for his life-saving work, where he provided CPR to a Gold Coast Turf Club patron who had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Special mention must be given to Western Australia-based Security Officer Umar Hassan, who was nominated for the Australian Security Medal of Valour. While he did not win the award, we are proud of his exceptional courage and kindness in saving the life of a colleague’s mother earlier this year. The details of Umar’s heroic act can be read here.
“From individuals who have demonstrated exceptional bravery and initiative through to small, medium and large organisations who have implemented innovative security solutions and technologies, the awards provide an opportunity to recognise the many quiet achievers who help keep the community safe 24/7,” explained John Fleming, General Manager of ASIAL.
Certis Australia’s winning submission for the Outstanding Security Performance Awards focused on the organisation’s three-year digital transformation project — an ambitious multi-phase program that is already yielding results at all levels of the business. Designed to improve practices for customers, partners and employees, the digital transformation project is focused on digitising outdated manual processes and integrating systems for consistent, streamlined results.
The transformation team sought to tackle the challenges from two perspectives: Process and People. Working with some of our largest partners and experienced internal process owners, the team set out to change the way Certis Australia – and the security industry overall – operates, working to set a new standard for workforce management. They collaborated with their colleagues and partners to understand the problem from all angles before workshopping solutions, fostering a culture of innovation and drawing on the ingenuity of the people who make up the core of Certis. This gave everyone the tools to successfully adapt their division to the increasingly digitalised workplace of today.
The program is already yielding impressive results. Utilisation of crucial systems has increased by 40%, boosting productivity by more than 15% while reducing discrepancies between digital and manual processes by 53%, driving huge cost reductions.
In an age where technology can be increasingly isolating and cold in favour of efficiency, the team at Certis Australia has always kept people at the heart of what we do. Business transformation may adversely affect an ill-prepared workforce, but we have made it our mission to ensure no one gets left behind. With this new initiative at the core of our business, the team seeks to further augment our people with the technology to prosper and thrive.
Accepting the award on Certis’ behalf, General Manager of Protective Services, Scott Nelson, praised the efforts of his colleagues and thanked the organisers for their support. “To be recognised in this way by our peers is an honour and a testament to the hard work and ingenuity of our colleagues across the business. Our team is truly living up to our Purpose, striving always to make our world safer, smarter and better.”
