Honouring ANZAC Day – remembering the bravery, service, and sacrifice of all who served

Find out what ANZAC Day means to our Certis colleagues based in Australia.

Each year, ANZAC Day brings communities across Australia and New Zealand together to honour those who have served, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. For many of us at Certis in Australia, ANZAC Day is more than a day of remembrance, it's a deeply personal time of reflection.

Today, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all current and former servicemen and women, and share personal stories from some of our own team who once served, as a tribute to their courage and commitment.

For Christina Rose, Vice President of Aviation Security, ANZAC Day holds profound meaning, her son is currently serving in the military.

"On ANZAC Day, we honour all who have served, and I’m especially proud of my son, who serves in the 5th/7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment in the Northern Territory. He follows in the footsteps of those who fought for democracy in Vietnam, East Timor, Iraq, and Afghanistan. As a mum and a proud Australian, it means everything to see him carry on the ANZAC legacy with such heart."

For Richard Reed, one of our Aviation Screening Officers, ANZAC Day holds special significance, having dedicated over two decades to military service.

"Having proudly served in the Australian Army for nearly 22 years, I can sincerely say that those life experiences shaped my character and convictions in a profound way. The bonds forged with those who stood beside me go beyond ordinary friendships, they are lifelong and unforgettable.

I’m honoured to have served alongside individuals who exemplify loyalty, courage, and sacrifice. I’ll certainly be raising a beer on ANZAC Day, toasting all who have proudly served.”

Having risen through the ranks of the Australian Army in his earlier years, Michael Leckie, now an Aviation Screening Officer, shares his reflections.

"On ANZAC Day, I reflect with pride on my 32 years of service in the Australian Army, from Signalman to Captain, including a deployment to Iraq and receiving medals for both long service and active duty.

This photo of me at Camp Victory, Baghdad in 2004 reminds me of the honour of serving alongside great Australians, not only on operations but also on the cricket field, where I represented the Army and the Australian Service Cricket Team.

Today, I remember the mateship, sacrifice, and service of all who have worn the uniform. Lest we forget."

Over his distinguished 32-year military career, Michael Leckie earned several honours in recognition of his dedication and service. These include the Defence Force Long Service Medal with three clasps for 30 years of service, the Australian Defence Force Medal, the Defence Force Service Medal (Operation Catalyst), and the Australian Service Medal. Beyond his military achievements, Michael also made his mark in sports, representing the Army and the Australian Combined Services Team in cricket.

His passion and commitment to the game earned him Life Membership with the Australian Service Cricket Association (ASCA), a testament to his contributions both on and off the field.

Join us as we in honouring the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of all who have served and continue to serve. We remember and thank them for their unwavering commitment.
