Enhancing security with technology: A partnership with Gold Coast Light Rail

Certis Australia has formed a new partnership with Keolis Downer, Australia’s largest private provider of multi-modal public transport, who operates and manages the Gold Coast Light Rail, known publicly as ‘G:link’. This partnership will see Certis Australia collaborate with Keolis Downer to continue providing safe and secure experiences to passengers on Queensland’s only light rail system.

Spanning 20 kilometres from Helensvale to Broadbeach, passing through the popular tourist destination of Surfers Paradise, Certis’ expertise in operations technology and physical security will complement Keolis Downer’s experience in public mobility for the security of Gold Coast’s public transport system. Together, we will continue to provide safer, smarter and better rides for commuters on the network.

“Our partnership with Keolis Downer to deliver high security standards to their light rail transportation network speaks of our commitment to providing safe and secure environments for the community and for our customer,” said Steve Crews, Regional General Manager of Queensland, Certis Australia. “We’re excited to be able to bring our integrated security approach to the only light rail system in Queensland.”

Highlights of the collaboration with Keolis Downer will include the deployment of innovative data-driven solutions such as Certis’ flagship GPS-enabled Business Operations Support System (BOSS). BOSS will be used by all security officers for real-time reporting of incidents such as graffiti or damage to infrastructure.

Complementing these key innovation features is a customised dashboard developed by our Technology team to display key metrics alongside data visualisation to enhance transparency.

“Keolis Downer is excited to have an experienced partner in Certis that can deliver innovative technology to support our overall operations,” said George Davis, General Manager at Keolis Downer Gold Coast. “The foundation of this partnership is nothing but a success, delivering a shortened but seamless transition.”

Collectively, Certis and Keolis Downer are proactively engaged in driving security through innovation and technological development, working together to promote the safety standards of public commute in one of Australia’s key transport networks.
