Certis Announces First and Largest Auxiliary Police Force K-9 Unit Certified for Deployment

Five sniffer dogs and handlers to be deployed this month

Certis, a leading advanced integrated security services provider, announced today that the Certis CISCO Auxiliary Police K-9 Unit (Certis K-9) is the first Auxiliary Police Force K-9 Unit in Singapore officially certified by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) to be mission-ready for deployment. With five newly minted sniffer dogs, Certis K-9 is also the largest Auxiliary Police Force K-9 Unit in Singapore, and will swiftly embark on its first assignment as early as this month.

The Certis K-9 dogs have achieved the same stringent standards demanded of SPF’s own K-9 unit, and will be deployed to a large-scale live entertainment event where the dogs will conduct security sweep operations. In addition, Certis is working on plans to deploy Certis K-9 to other customers in the aviation, entertainment and hospitality sectors.

By using their keen sense of smell to detect a wide range of substances including contraband and explosives, Certis K-9 will complement and augment security operations by pre-empting, detecting and deterring threats at deployment sites with high visitor volume like seaports, transport hubs and major events.

ASP (APF) Matthew Ng, Commanding Officer, Certis CISCO Auxiliary Police Force, Enforcement & Events Division, said, “As the first and largest Auxiliary Police Force K-9 unit, Certis K-9’s unique detection capabilities complement our total range of security solutions. For example, in tandem with their Certis K-9 colleagues, Auxiliary Police Officers can now carry out security sweeps faster and with greater accuracy compared to manual and even machine checks.”

“Offerings such as our integrated Security+ solution and Certis K-9 stem from the Certis spirit of constant improvement and innovation, which sets us apart from the competition. We take pride in our new capabilities and look forward to introducing Certis K-9 to our customers to better support their security needs,” added Ng.

To commemorate this certification milestone, a presentation ceremony was held this afternoon at Certis HQ. The event saw Guest of Honour Ronald Poon, Chief Executive, Singapore, Certis present the dogs and handlers their working harnesses and proficiency badges respectively, signifying the unit’s operational readiness. The unit also put up a demonstration of several detection drills for the audience of partners, customers and Certis employees.
