Gearing up for Growth in Greater China

Certis in Greater China is gearing up to further boost its capabilities as a unique specialist ops-tech partner, with advanced security and technology at its core.

Today, its presence in Greater China has grown tremendously, with the Certis team doubling from just under 1,500 in 2017, to about 3,000 employees today. In Hong Kong, Certis is the dominant player in the premium residential and commercial guarding space, complete with technology-centred orchestration capabilities. In Jiangsu, it has achieved the new provincial licensing accreditation, and in Macau, Certis is a prominent security services player in the casino and hospitality sectors.

Last October, Certis announced globally that it has expanded its industry-leading ops-tech capabilities to deliver Security Plus (Security+) solutions. Security+ combines advanced security, facilities management and customer service into a single holistic service, supported and underpinned by technology. Security+ is a key strategy for Certis as a truly unique ops-tech outsourcing partner, and enables the organisation to deliver greater value and competitive advantage to the customers.

To accelerate the future of Security+ in Greater China, Certis today announced key appointments in Hong Kong, effective from 1 April 2019.

Mr Tang King-Shing, currently a member of the Certis international advisory panel, will be appointed as Chairman, Greater China. In this appointment, he will provide guidance to the development of the business. Mr Tang was formerly the Hong Kong Commissioner of Police in 2011, and is the honorary advisor to think-tank Hong Kong Strategy. From 2016 to 2018, Mr Tang was Vice Chairman and Executive Director of the internationally acclaimed full service airline Hong Kong Airlines Limited, where he oversaw the company’s development strategies.

Mr Nelson Yau, will be appointed as Senior Managing Director and Head, Greater China. In his role, Mr Yau will be responsible for driving the growth strategy of the Certis business in Greater China, and in particular bring Security+ solutions to this part of the world. Prior to this appointment, he was Senior Vice President and Head, Integrated Services, Singapore.

In Financial Year 2018, Certis’ revenue was S$1.2 billion, crossing the S$1 billion mark for the first time. Following its corporatisation in 2005, Certis has grown into a 34,000-strong global team. This includes 16,000 in Singapore, with an international presence in Australia, Hong Kong, Macau, China, Malaysia and the Middle East.
