Certis, an advanced integrated security solutions provider, today announced that it has significantly enhanced its security capabilities with the formation of its K-9 Unit, the first of its kind by an Auxiliary Police Force in Singapore. Certis CISCO Auxiliary Police K-9 Unit (Certis K-9) will begin operations in the first half of 2019.
Starting with 10 dogs, Certis K-9 will complement Certis CISCO Auxiliary Police and Aviation Security Officers to help safeguard the security of key installations in Singapore. These Certis K-9 dogs can be deployed at airports, sea ports, transport hubs and major events where human traffic is high.
The unveiling of Certis K-9 comes at the back of the recent announcement of the transformation of Certis from a physical guarding services provider to a unique specialist operations-technology (ops-tech) outsourcing partner with advanced security and technology at its core. Certis has expanded its industry-leading ops-tech capabilities to deliver Security Plus, which is the integration of advanced security, facilities management and customer service, underpinned by technology.
Said Matthew Ng, Commanding Officer, Certis CISCO Auxiliary Police Force, Enforcement & Events Division, “Amid heightened security threats of complexity and size, Certis has continued to innovate and build up capabilities; and we need to do it with greater effectiveness and efficiency. Dogs are extremely intelligent animals and certain breeds can be trained to be highly effective in detecting contrabands and explosives. Their addition into our security force strengthens our capabilities to safeguard the people and premises we are tasked to protect.”
Mr Ng added, “Certis K-9 is highly mobile and versatile, and they will be able to detect security threats more accurately and quickly. They are living technology that is highly integral to our security operations and they contribute to our vision of making the world a safer and smarter place as we deliver peace of mind to our customers and the customers they serve.”
