Certis, Singapore’s leading advanced integrated security services provider, participated in the Careers Connect and Gallery Showcase held at Lifelong Learning Institute on 11 January 2019. Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was the Guest-of-Honour.
Certis has partnered Workforce Singapore to offer the Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) to train mid-career individuals and equip them with the knowledge and skills to join the private security industry as licensed Auxiliary Police Officers (APOs).
Since 2017, about 150 mid-career individuals have joined Certis as APOs via the PCP. They had undergone a three-month Place-and-Train program and started off performing operations roles. After training and with on-the-job experience, there are opportunities for them to take up supervisory and operations management roles.
Mr Sean Poh, Deputy Head of Certis CISCO Auxiliary Police Force, said, “As an advanced integrated security services provider, we have infused smart technology into our operations. For example, we have also developed smart applications to enable our APOs to perform their jobs in a more effective and efficient manner.”
Mr Poh added, “Certis also values mid-career individuals. Therefore, this PCP allows us to hire mid-career talent who are keen to join Certis and progress in the organisation.”
An APO who have successfully made the switch via the PCP in 2017 was Ms Lim Tang Lee, formerly a graphic designer. Ms Lim said, “I always wanted to play a part in protecting Singapore. This PCP has provided me with a valuable opportunity to be retrained and equipped for a new career at Certis.”
