Taking on All Challenges from Macau to Saipan

Diverse Opportunities Around the World

What is the most interesting location you have been for your job?

For William Wong from Certis Hong Kong and Macau, a three-month posting to the Northern Mariana Islands ranks as one of the most memorable experiences of his career.

Located in the Pacific Ocean, the Northern Mariana Islands is composed of 22 small islands and is home to about 50,000 people. In 2017, William and his team were chosen to install 400 access-controlled doors at a luxury holiday resort on the Islands’ capital Saipan.

Starting out as an Assistant Project Engineer seven years ago, William has taken on multiple projects, installing and maintaining a wide range of security systems including illegal parking detection, fingerprint identification and metal detectors. Each project has allowed him to gain invaluable skills and knowledge, which would not have been made possible without the opportunities that Certis provides its employees.

Having honed his technical skills as an engineer, William has since expanded his skillsets to include project management and communication as well. This year, his contribution above and beyond his role were formally recognised as he was promoted to Project Manager.

Reflecting on his career journey at Certis, William said, “Do not be afraid of challenges even if they take you from the city all the way to the middle of the ocean. Try harder, do more, and ask more. The organisation and colleagues will always support you.”
