Security Officer of the Year

At just 22 years old, Mak Shi Ning is one of Certis' youngest security supervisors. This year, she was awarded Security Officer of the Year by the Security Association Singapore. Despite her young age, Shi Ning has demonstrated maturity as a leader. Always leading by example, she has managed to win respect from older officers, building strong camaraderie and mutual trust in the team. 

Shi Ning joined Certis four years ago as a security officer and quickly rose through the ranks to a security supervisor today. She accomplished this with her positive mindset and readiness to accept the challenges and responsibilities that came her way. Throughout her career journey, Shi Ning was given opportunities to step up and take charge, as well as developing her skillsets.

Today, Shi Ning continues to upgrade her skills and knowledge. She has undergone structured training at the Certis Corporate University and regular customer service refresher trainings conducted by her managers. Through these sessions, Shi Ning has acquired skills not just for the role, but also soft skills through interaction with senior officers and on-the-job experience. Providing good customer experience is now almost second nature to her and her team.

In a notable incident last year, Shi Ning was off-duty near the mall she was deployed at, when she was notified about a fire that broke out. Without hesitation, she rushed over to help with crowd and access control,as well as post-incident management. Her actions are testament of her commitment and dedication to her profession and had won recognition from the management of the mall.

When asked about her thoughts on her win, Shi Ning said, "I have met helpful colleagues over the years and I would like to dedicate my achievement to my teammates. This would not have been possible without their support and care. This award will spur me further to lead the team to do well."

It's all hands on deck for Shi Ning. With the implementation of safe distancing measures and SafeEntry requirements at the shopping malls, she continues to lead a team that works round-the-clock, dynamically adapting to the situation amidst COVID-19 to keep patrons safe.
