Supporting persons with disabilities to realise sporting ambitions

Certis launched ‘Dare to Dream‘, a partnership initiative with Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) to encourage more persons with disabilities to lead active and healthy lives, as well as realise their sporting ambitions. Certis has committed a donation of S$30,000 to kick-start the programme. A key programme under this initiative is the ‘Certis Superheroes Challenge’ that will help enable both Certis and SDSC to scout, identify new talent and groom the next generation of para athletes ‘Dare to Dream’ will also see Certis fuel the aspirations of the national goalball women’s team. Goalball is a team sport designed for athletes with vision impairment and is one of two sports with no Olympic counterpart. Certis’ donation will enable the team to travel overseas to participate in competitions, ensuring the team is fit for the next ASEAN Para Games.

Empowering disadvantaged children and youth

Certis is proud to partner with The Business Time Budding Artists Fund (BTBAF) to launch a series of activities under the Community Give-Back programme. This programme empowers the BTBAF beneficiaries by enabling them to give back to the community using their talents. Certis employees have joined these beneficiaries in activities such as donation of laptops, augmented reality artwork, TikTok dance challenge and creating paper robots using stop-motion videography. Through these efforts, we raised a total of S$30,000 for the charity.

Apart from BTBAF, Certis also contributed to other movements through monetary donations and physical volunteering efforts. These movements include The Blue Charity Gala, ChariTrees and ‘Embrace Wellness in 2020’ campaign.

Enabling the Less Enabled

Certis partnered SPD to launch Breaking Barriers, a new initiative that aims to inspire hope and positivity across the community by empowering and engaging persons with disabilities through suitable employment opportunities and a series of engagement activities.

Our employees also led Certislympics, a carnival that included several activities such as a charity flea market and water dunking station, where our Senior Leaders participated and took part in the plunge for charity. It was a resounding success where our Certis family got together and raised S$20,000 for MINDS (Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore), enabling the people with disabilities to realised their potential.

From ground staff to Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Certis employees around the region have taken time off their busy schedules to help the physically handicapped beneficiaries by serving with organisations such as Hong Kong PHAB (Physically Handicapped and Able-Bodied) Association (in Hong Kong) and All Saints Home (in Singapore).

Giving Back in Unprecedented Times

As the recent COVID-19 pandemic gripped Singapore, Certis pledged to support the less fortunate in the community by donating 500 care packs to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (STSPMF) beneficiaries. Our employees rose to the occasion by volunteering their time and effort to prepare these packs, consisting of anti-bacterial soap, hand sanitisers, some snack and drinks, in just two days.

Certis employees also volunteered in duties such as temperature-taking, registration, labelling, filling of bottles and crowd management in Project #BYOBclean, an initiative by Temasek Foundation to provide 500ml of non-alcohol hand sanitisers to every household in Singapore.

Stepping up for Other Worthy Causes

Our office in the land Down Under also played its part in charity. Certis Security Australia personally deliver bags of gifts to the children at Fowler Road Special School in Merrylands, Sydney and took part in Sydney Airport’s Centenary Runway Run in support of Surf Life Saving Sydney, a charity that trains and educates volunteer Surf Life Savers and Nippers to keep Sydney beaches safe. Senior Advisor Tom Roche and Assistant General Manager for Aviation, Knut Anderson, ran alongside more than 1,000 participants on Sydney Airport’s airfield for the running event.

In Qatar, a blood donation drive was organised by GSS Certis International where more than 70 employees volunteered at the mobile blood donation centre to encourage people to come forward to donate blood for life-saving cause.
