Key Responsibilities of a Security Officer

As a Security Officer, you will work across various locations and play an important role in maintaining a safe and secure environment. Your key responsibilities include:

Conduct Patrols

  • Carry out patrols and complete clocking duties across assigned premise
  • Monitor for suspicious activity and ensuring the security of site at all times

Access Control

  • Manage entry points and conduct security screening to prevent unauthorised access and protect restricted areas

Respond to Incidents

  • Respond promptly when emergency activations or security incidents occur
  • Follow established protocols to manage the situation and escalate where necessary

Assist Staff and the Public

  • Serve as the first point of contact for staff, visitors and members of the public
  • Provide professional support and clear directions where required

Security Officers at Certis work 12-hour shifts, with the option to choose either day or night shifts. The schedule runs three consecutive work days followed by one day off, then four consecutive work days followed by one day off.

To become a Security Officer in Singapore, you need to complete mandatory WSQ-certified training, apply for a Security Officer Licence through the Police Licensing & Regulatory Department (PLRD) and obtain your Security ID card upon approval. When you join Certis, all of this is taken care of. We provide fully paid training with no prior experience or licence required.

At Certis, the two terms refer to the same role. Our Security Officers handle a wide range of responsibilities including safeguarding premises, conducting patrols, managing access control, responding to emergencies and assisting staff and visitors.
