CERTIS AU: Aviation Security – Training Committee

On the 3rd and 4th of July 2019, Certis Security Australia launched the Aviation Security – Training Committee (AS-TC) with its first event at the Charles Ulm Building, Sydney Airport.

Attended by representatives from Certis Group, it saw over 35 people from 8 Airports and three national bodies including the Australian Federal Police (AFP), ASIO’s Business Government Liaison Unit (ASIO-BGLU) and Aviation Maritime Security (AMS) to discuss numerous topics that concern Aviation Security within Australia and the immediate region. It is the first of several Certis Security Australia initiatives designed to; promote collaboration between our network of Aviation operations, reinforce the continuous learning environment and also up skill our managers and trainers with new Aviation Security tools and teaching methodologies.

The successful event will be held quarterly with aims to hold them across our national portfolio of aviation clients.Certis Security Australia Senior Managing Director, Tom Roche (right) and AMS, presenting the team a Department of Home Affairs Award for delivering the Aviation Security capability training provided to the Government of Timor-Leste Airport Staff in May this year.

Managers and trainers received professional development training that will be reinforced into our Aviation Security operations across the country.

The AS-TC was fortunate enough to receive informative presentations from the AFP,AMS and ASIO. These then set the context to discuss the challenges faced within the Australian Aviation Security industry and explore the means by which we can overcome them as a national team.
